The Accelerated Early Childhood Education (AECE) program is a reading intervention program implemented by Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas (BGCD) to provide a comprehensive learning environment for Club members in first and second grade that are reading below grade level. Program participants consist of first graders who remain in the program until the completion of third grade. This year-round program consists of the following components:


  • Small group instruction model
  • Assessments year-round that drive instruction
  • Instruction from Certified Teachers
  • Balanced Literacy
  • Online professional development for teachers
  • Parental awareness and involvement
  • Social and emotional learning
  • Curriculum grounded in research


  • 70% of students will meet a minimum of 1 growth standard; measured by CPAA
  • 80% of students will progress no less than 3 reading levels; measured by Raz-Plus
  • 70% of the AECE students will improve in reading proficiency at or above third-grade level; measured by STAAR
