On Thursday, October 24th, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas will host various open houses as part of Lights On Afterschool, a nationwide rally for afterschool programs that is expected to see more than 1 million Americans attend more than 8,000 events this year. 

 

BGCD’s Lights On Afterschool events include:

Cedar Springs Boys & Girls Club

*Will host event on Wednesday, Oct. 23*

5 – 7 p.m.

The Cedar Springs club will have WiNGS, an organization for female empowerment, speak to the youth while offering games and a tour of the club. 

 

East Dallas Boys & Girls Club

4804 Worth St., Dallas, TX 75246

4 – 6 p.m.

The East Dallas Club will offer kid-friendly challenges and art activities.

 

Grand Prairie Boys & Girls Club

1000 Enterprise Dr., Grand Prairie, TX 75051

6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

The Grand Prairie Club will host an open house for parents to meet the staff and a tour led by Club members.

 

Mesquite Boys & Girls Club

4869 Gus Thomasson Rd., Mesquite, TX 75150

5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

The Mesquite Club will host a talent show.

 

Navarro County Boys & Girls Club

1000 G W Jackson Ave., Corsicana, TX 75110

5 – 7 p.m.

The Navarro County Club will offer arts and craft, theater activities such as a BGC Wild N Out show, and a scavenger hunt.

 

Oak Cliff Boys & Girls Club

2907 Linfield Rd., Dallas, TX 75216

5 – 7 p.m.

The Oak Cliff Club will showcase a performance by its dance team. Other activities will include competitions, dance battles, games & prices, crafts, and an open house. 

 

Richardson Boys & Girls Club

1220 W Belt Line Rd., Richardson, TX 75080

4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

The Richardson Club will offer various raffles, face painting, contests, and family activities including an obstacle course. 

 

Roseland Boys & Girls Club

2101 N. Washington Ave., Dallas, TX 75204

4 – 6 p.m.

The Roseland Club will offer seasonal birthday celebration for all Autumn birthdays along with a book club for ages 9-12.

 

Williams Prep Boys & Girls Club

5801 Worth St., Dallas, TX 75214

4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

This club will offer arts and crafts, puzzles, and bingo. Other activities will include a spelling bee and more, weather permitting.

 

Afterschool programs keep kids safe, help working families, and inspire learning. According to data from the Afterschool Alliance, 11.3 million children are without adult supervision in the afternoon hours. BGCD currently serves 6,500 youth yearly in Dallas and Navarro Counties, providing them a safe place to go after the school day ends.
