DALLAS, Jan. 29, 2019 – Mesquite Club kids buzzed with excitement Monday afternoon as they got the chance to meet and thank Brittany and Harrison Barnes, basketball player for the Dallas Mavericks.

The Barnes sponsored the renovation of the Mesquite Boys & Girls Club’s basketball court.

Since their move to Dallas in 2016, they have consistently invested their time, money and resources to benefit the thousands of youth Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas serves.

In addition to Mesquite’s court, the couple has previously backed the renovation of Oak Cliff Club’s basketball court, hosted several film screenings for kids along with families for Christmas, put on two back-to-school shopping events, facilitated Club basketball camps and more.

Barnes, a previous Club kid himself, said the basketball court was not just a place where he bettered his game, but a place where he learned a lot of life lessons.

He explained to the crowd of attentive Club kids that many people are where they are in life because somebody believed in them or gave them a chance they otherwise wouldn’t have had.

“That’s hopefully what we’re trying to let you guys know today, that we care about you guys, each and every one of you guys,” he said. “and we want you to know that you’re valued, we want you to know that you can be whatever you want to be.”

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas and our kids are thankful for the Barnes’ continued support and role in helping us make GREAT FUTURES possible.
