What do you do when you hear stats like:

3 out of 10 youth are overweight or obese

1 in 5 school-age children is obese

Nearly 1/3 of high school students are overweight or obese

Well, if you’re anything like Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas (BGCD), you respond with action. You stop being a part of the problem, both directly and indirectly, and you start being a part of the solution. Through our fun and life-changing Healthy Lifestyles programs, such as Healthy Habits, SMART Girls and Passport to Manhood, we are able to encourage our Club members to make health-conscious decisions and help reduce the alarming rates of childhood obesity. Our Healthy Lifestyles programs support physical fitness, inspire positive food choices and build mental and emotional well-being among youth ages 6-18.

In fact, to kick start 2016 with good health at the forefront, our Clubs are participating in a Healthy Lifestyles Challenge. For this challenge, we have equipped our 7,500 Club members with a “Challenge Calendar.” The Challenge Calendar provides each member (and their families!) with a different physical fitness and/or nutritional goal for each day of the week. Feel free to join us in this challenge by downloading our Healthy Lifestyles Challenge Calendar for January and February. Share your completion of each goal with us on social media using the hashtag #WELLonmyway!
