Perot Museum of Nature and Science partnered with BGCD for fun STEM themed events for Lights On Afterschool on October 7th, 8th and 29th. Members from the Oak Cliff, East Dallas and Dunbar Boys & Girls Clubs were engaged in hands-on stations and experiments utilizing Perot Museum science curriculum. The activities focused on technology, engineering and math.
Afterschool programs not only keep kids safe, inspire them to learn and help working families, they can also encourage students’ interest in STEM subjects, and even STEM careers. BGCD participated in the 15th Annual Lights on Afterschool in October, along with other programs around the country, to provide members with the opportunity to engage in STEM learning. Organized by the Afterschool Alliance, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide rally for afterschool programs.
