NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 employees spent the day volunteering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas (BGCD) during their Math Blazers competition.

On Saturday, April 30, 2016 dozens of NBC 5 staff and managers helped North Texas youth study helpful math expertise as a part of the Comcast Cares Day. The Math Blazers event took place at the Grand Prairie Boys & Girls Club. Math Blazers is an annual spring event at BGCD which allows 3rd – 12th grade students to display their math skills in a math competition that covers specific skills tied directly to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) objectives at each grade level.

NBC 5 President & General Manager Tom Ehlmann, NBC 5 Vice President of Group Affairs Nada Ruddock, NBC 5 anchor/reporter Meredith Land and lots of different volunteers were there to help organize the Math Blazers event. Greater than one hundred staff from Comcast and NBC volunteered for the fifteenth annual Comcast Cares Day. Volunteers were able to help youth with their math issues and workouts, oversee rocket launches, and conquer obstacle courses. Yearly Comcast staff roll up their sleeves and volunteer to assist in making a change locally. Comcast Cares Day is the nation wide’s largest company day of service.
