MacKenzie Scott Announcement (1)

Donation will double the organization’s impact in the Dallas area

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas (BGCD) has received the largest single donation in its history – a gift of $4.8 million from noted philanthropist and author MacKenzie Scott.

As one of the Metroplex’s largest youth-serving organizations, BGCD plays a significant role in the lives of more than 6,500 young people each year. The Clubs create life-enhancing opportunities for kids and teens to thrive, providing academic support, safe places, caring mentors and essential skill-building after school and during the summer. BGCD offers homework help, STEM learning, sports and recreation, the arts, academic programs, life-enhancing leadership opportunities, and more.

“For almost 60 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas has been consistently committed to the growth and development of young people in the Dallas area and we thank MacKenzie Scott for her incredibly generous gift that will lift up countless Dallas-area kids,” said BGCD President and CEO, Charles English.

We believe our focus on outcome-driven programming has resulted in saving thousands of youth. With this gift, we can now more than double our impact on the lives of young people living in underserved communities.

Today, young people face an unprecedented number of obstacles to their success and wellbeing. Studies show that a lack of access to technology, positive mentors and guidance, food insecurity, and other critical factors can cause long-term setbacks and trauma for millions of young people.

BGCD is heavily focused on providing resources to combat the effects of these challenges. From its college-prep program to its specialized mentoring programs for Club members, the organization takes a holistic approach, focusing on the whole child.
