Julie Ford-Mitchell’s journey with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas – Grand Prairie Club began nearly 22 years ago as a volunteer basketball coach. As one of 10 children raised by a widowed mother, Mitchell learned early that strong role models lay the foundation for success, and began volunteering to serve as a role model for local youth.
She worked her way up through the organization over the years, and now serves as the branch director, overseeing staff members and managing programs and services daily at the Club. Her son, Don Mitchell, Jr., was the 2014 BGCD Youth of the Year and is currently attending the University of North Texas.
Recently, University of Phoenix awarded her a full-tuition scholarship for her dedication to the Boys & Girl Club movement. Julie will pursue a master of business administration. Aspiring to use her education to gain leadership skills, she will continue to build a long-lasting and strong foundation for the Club to grow and continue to offer resources to the youth in the Dallas area.
