In celebration of its 100th anniversary, State Farm hosted a virtual 5K event and invited community members to participate in the Good Neighbor Run|Walk and fundraiser. State Farm selected Boys & Girls Clubs of America as a beneficiary and reached out to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas as its local partner. Individuals and teams could sign up for the virtual event, donate, and complete their 5k over a two week period. Richardson Boys & Girls Club 5k’d their way with a circuit-style field day on Thursday, April 28 and invited several State Farm volunteers out to participate.
The field day consisted of a hearty lunch and State Farm volunteer chatted with Club members about how they can be good neighbors and make a meaningful difference helping others. Clad in red, echoing the spirit of the day, Club members were then divided into four groups and escorted to their activity stations outside. Each station required Club members to rely on and trust their teammates while using productive communication skills as they completed their relays as quickly as possible.
When asked why he decided to volunteer, Emilio Cintron, a State Farm volunteer explained, “I came because I had a friend sign up and I decided to join. I’m glad I did, it’s been a great chance to get out and volunteer, and I’ve enjoyed the kids”.
