Why are the Trinity River Mission (TRM) and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas (BGCD) joining forces?

Leveraging a combination of TRM’s and BGCD’s history, programming, and resources will create a stronger, more stable organization with an effective strategy to enhance underserved youth in West Dallas.

What will the new organizational name be?

Trinity River Mission will now be called the West Dallas Boys & Girls Club (BGC).

What are the West Dallas BGC’s goals, values, expectations?

West Dallas BGC’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Parents may download a copy of our parent handbook for Club member and parent expectations here.

How will this change impact my child?

Your child is still eligible for program services with BGCD.

Will the programs be different?

The core of programming offered by both organizations is very similar. Our Clubs offer diverse program activities in three areas: Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. These services are offered through small group and one-on-one classes and activities led by professional staff.

Are there new hours or registration fees?

BGCD operates under the following schedule:

School year: Monday – Friday from 3-7 p.m.
Summer: Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

The annual membership fee is $20.

Please contact the administrative office at info@bgcdallas.org or (214) 821-2950 about available fee scholarships or discounts.

What are the ages that BGCD serves?

6-18 years of age.

What is a membership? What does that include?

BGCD is a membership organization, which means a youth must join the Club of their choice. Membership includes access to dynamic programming, life-changing opportunities, relationships with supportive and caring adults, and the opportunity to meet new people and expand their horizons. Memberships are active for one year to be renewed annually.

Are there residency requirements? Does my child have to live in West Dallas or attend school in West Dallas?

BGCD memberships are not based on what part of the county you live in. Club members can live in any part of the county and register at the Club of their choice. For a listing of BGCD Clubs, visit bgcdallas.org/locations.

Will there be bilingual staff?

Yes. BGCD is committed to providing a full program experience to the West Dallas community. This will include utilizing a diverse and bilingual staff.

Can parents volunteer?

Yes. Anyone volunteering more than once must complete and pass a criminal background check. To complete the background check and view volunteer opportunities, please visit bgcdallas.org/volunteer.

Are any of the TRM employees staying with the program?

BGCD will begin the hiring process shortly. BGD will do its best to transition former TRM employees onto the staff of the new West Dallas Boys & Girls Club.

How do I stay updated on the latest Club news and activities?

Parents, volunteers, community partners, and donors will continue to receive news and updates through email communications and social media channels.

Who should we contact if we have questions?

For questions or concerns, please contact the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas (BGCD) at info@bgcdallas.org or contact the BGCD Administrative Office at (214) 821-2950.
