Over 100 volunteers gathered at the Communities Foundation of Texas on April 17th to be recognized for their service to the BGCD.  Event Co-ChairsSarah Hardin and Santina Kornajcikand the committee executed a moving program aptly named “Thank You For Your Hands”. Emcee Amanda Guerra of NBC5 presented Legacy Awards toVirginia Wilson and Calvin Brundrettfor their 15 years of service. Gina and Ken Betts were given the Advocacy Award for their 10 years of service to the Club.

Legacy Award winner have given 15 plus years of service to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas.  Virginia Wilson with Herman Miller has dedicated over 1,500 hours of service to BGCD.  Since 1999, she has worked at We Care to bring holiday cheer to over 300 BGCD members. We Care is an annual holiday event that gives BGCD members the opportunity to make gifts for their family members and friends with donated arts and crafts supplies. Calvin Brundrett with BonAir in Grand Prairie has given over 20 years of service to the Grand Prairie Boys & Girls Club and over 20,000 overs of service!

Ken & Gina Betts were awarded the Advocacy Award for their service of 10 years.  During their volunteer tenure at BGCD they have served as co-chairs of The Billiard Ball.

The Doris Patton Award was presented to Coach Carter at the Oak Cliff Boys & Girls Club.  Mrs. Doris Patton, the award’s namesake, volunteered at the Oak Cliff Boys & Girls Club for over 25 years and devoted over 100,000 hours at the Club before her passing in 2012.  This award is given to a volunteer that exemplifies Mrs. Patton’s spirit of service.
