Meet Mrs. Cordova, one of our rockstar volunteers! Patricia Cordova has volunteered for Boys & Girl Clubs of Greater Dallas by supporting Club programs and events for over five years. She was first introduced to BGCD through her daughter, Sophia Cordova, Director of Cedar Springs and Roseland Boys & Girls Clubs, eight years ago and has been a passionate supporter ever since.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Mrs. Cordova volunteered almost every day at the Cedar Springs and Roseland Clubs by chaperoning young Club members, cooking meals, and planning fun arts and crafts activities.
“When they see me, they know they are about to make something good,” say Mrs. Cordova, referring to the many enriching arts and crafts projects designed to expand their creativity and express their individuality.
When asked what motivates her to serve BGCD with such devotion, Mrs. Cordova explained that she loves working with kids.
“I love being with kids, I’ve always loved being with kids and I thank God for my daughters. They give me the free time to be with the kids at the Club”.
Mrs. Cordova further explained that she loves being a support and mentor to Club members and helping them work through the struggles they are facing in life as developing young people.
“I pay attention to them and listen to their stories and give them advice,” says Mrs. Cordova. “I know their mothers and I’ve seen them grow up, so I have a good relationship with them.”
Mrs. Cordova also loves to support special events at the Club by decorating and cooking treats for members to enjoy. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas, Mrs. Cordova decorates the Cedar Springs Club and cooks a tasty meal with cupcakes for dessert.
“We had some real fun this past Christmas party. They love my cupcakes, and I loved bringing in the Christmas spirit for them,” says Mrs. Cordova.
Thank you, Patricia Cordova, for being a wise mentor to Club members and ardent volunteer to our Clubs!
