How to Apply for Disaster Assistance with FEMA
Texas homeowners and renters who suffered damage from the recent winter storm can now apply for disaster assistance with FEMA. To begin the recovery process:
- Take photos of your damaged home and belongings.
- Make a list of lost or damaged items.
- Apply online at disasterassistance.gov, through the FEMA App, or call (800) 621- 3363/ TTY: (800) 242- 7585
You will also need to provide proof of identification, an insurance determination letter, and proof of occupancy or ownership.
Please note: If you have insurance, you must file your claim through your insurance company. FEMA cannot provide assistance for losses that are covered by insurance.
